Potomac Park Levee Project EA - FONSI

The National Park Service (NPS) prepared and made available for public review an Environmental Assessment (EA) evaluating the potential impacts of the design and construction of improvements to the Potomac Park levee system located in Washington, D.C. The purpose of this action is to improve the reliability of river flood protection provided by the Potomac Park levee in a manner that respects the resources and values of the National Mall. After the end of the 30-day public review period, the NPS selected for implementation, the preferred alternative, and determined that implementation of the preferred alternative will not have a significant impact on the quality of the human environment and that an environmental impact statement is not required. In making that selection and determination, the NPS considered the information and analysis contained in the EA and the comments received during the public review period. The NPS has prepared a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the project.
