Uplake Development Concept Plan/Environmental Assessment
The National Park Service is requesting public comments on this document, which addresses developments in the uplake area, including Bullfrog, Halls Crossing and Hite Marinas and Farley Canyon accessible shoreline camping area.
In 2006, Glen Canyon National Recreation Area completed an Uplake DCP/EA. Subsequent to signing a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the EA, the decision-making document, park staff identified additional management actions that required the development of this new DCP/EA. We have used the No-Action Alternative and the Preferred Alternative from the 2006 DCP/EA as the basis for the 2008 DCP/EA. Changes were made to the description of the existing and proposed marina facilities as well as a proposal from the Utah Department of Natural Resources to include the possibility of a primitive launch ramp at Farley Canyon. The No-Action Alternative addresses current conditions at Bullfrog, Halls Crossing, Hite and Farley Canyon, while the Preferred Alternative describes proposed changes in both water-based and land-based facilities at these same locations.
This notice is an opportunity for the public to identify any issues or concerns they may have regarding this project. All comments are due by January 5, 2009. Comments may be posted on this website, mailed to: 2008 Uplake DCP/EA, Glen Canyon NRA, P.O. Box 1507, Page, AZ 86040, or faxed to (928) 608-6259.
