200701Jan - Relocation of Bodie Island Coast Guard Station and LifeSaving Station


The purpose of this project is to prepare an Environmental Assessment (EA) for Bodie Island Coast Guard Station at Cape Hatteras National Seashore (CAHA). The Station consists of one 1925 Coast Guard Station, one 1879 Life Saving Station and one 1916 Boathouse. These three units comprise the Bodie Island Station, and all three structures are addressed in this project. The project will present and analyze alternative locations to provide a draft environmental documentation for internal National Park Service (NPS) reviews and make appropriate revisions according to review comments received. Products and services will include a draft environmental document for public review and comment, an analysis of public comments, and preparation of a final environmental document, and a draft and final Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) in accordance with guidance provided by Director's Order 12 (DO-12) – Conservation Planning, Environmental Analysis, and Decision Making.
