The National Park Service is considering the relocation of the Bodie Island U.S. Coast Guard Station Complex at Cape Hatteras National Seashore. The Complex is comprised of the 1879 U.S. Life Saving Station, the 1916 Boat House, and the 1925 U.S. Coast Guard Station. Cape Hatteras National Seashore proposes to relocate these three structures to a nearby site on Bodie Island to protect the structures from encroachment of the Atlantic Ocean and shoreline erosion.
