Cape Hatteras National Seashore, will hold a Public Scoping Informational Meeting on Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at the Wright Brothers National Memorial, Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina between 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. This scoping meeting is part of the process to prepare an Environmental Assessment (EA) pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 for the site relocation of the Bodie Island Coast Guard and Life Saving Stations.

During the public scoping period, which is not restricted to this meeting, all interested persons will be given the opportunity to review and provide comments on the proposed relocation to a new site within Cape Hatteras NS. The structures are currently in danger of destruction by the ocean. Relocation will ensure the preservation of these historic structures. Following relocation, the structures will be stabilized and restored.

Beginning January 15 and ending February 17, 2007 you may go to the Park's PEPC website for current information on this subject and leave written comments. The PEPC website is: http://parkplanning.nps.gov/caha. Select "Relocation of Bodie Island Coast Guard Station and LifeSaving Station at Cape Hatteras NS.". You may also make comments by letter during the same period addressed to: Superintendent, Reloaction BICG/LSS, 1401 National Park Drive, Manteo, NC 27954. Or you may simply complete this pre-address form, affix proper postage on the reverse side, fold and place in the U.S. Mail on or before January 17, 2007. Thank you for your comments.
