Environmental Assessment - Development of Bullfrog and Hite Low Water Launch Ramps
Glen Canyon National Recreation Area is seeking public comment on an Environmental Assessment (EA) for proposed improvements at the Bullfrog and Hite Districts. Long-term low water levels have made existing boat ramps difficult or unsafe to use. The project would construct new low‑water ramps and supporting facilities to provide safe, reliable access to Lake Powell and the Colorado River.
At Bullfrog, the project includes a new concrete boat ramp, access road, parking area, and utility improvements. At Hite, the project includes a primitive fixed launch/retrieval ramp, an improved access road, and parking areas for ramp users. These improvements are needed to maintain visitor access, improve safety, and reduce resource impacts caused by unauthorized shoreline use during low water.
A 30-day public comment period is open from March 26 to April 24, 2026. Please review the EA and submit comments through the link below. Comments will not be accepted in-person, over the phone, by fax or e-mail.
