Wupatki Wilderness Study - Civic Engagement Summary Report

The National Park Service (NPS) is in the early (pre-NEPA) phases of a wilderness study for Wupatki National Monument. When complete, this study will support the ongoing preservation of wilderness character at Wupatki National Monument and complement the recently completed backcountry management plan.

From February 1, 2023, through March 3, 2023, NPS staff solicited public input on the wilderness study and the possibility of a wilderness designation. A brief report is available that describes civic engagement efforts and summarizes input received from the public and partners.
