Public Scoping - Climbing Management Plan

Attached is a JTNP public scoping newsletter, which provides a summary of the planning process to date, including proposed management actions that address the purpose and need of the Climbing Management Plan. JTNP invites the public to comment on the proposed action, the purpose and need for the project, and the potential issues and environmental impacts of the project.

Comments will be used to help shape the plan and refine the issues that are analyzed in the draft Environmental Assessment (EA). Issues include the installation of fixed anchors in wilderness, the effects of user-created social trails and climbing and bouldering on natural and cultural resources, the management of highlining and slacklining, and commercial services (i.e., guiding) in wilderness. We encourage you to read the newsletter, interact with the storymap, review all the information on the Climbing Management Plan website https://www.nps.gov/jotr/getinvolved/climbingplan.htm and watch the virtual public meeting to inform your comments.
