Construct Everglades City Replacement Housing Hardened to Resist Storms and Flooding Environmental Assessment

The NPS has prepared this EA to evaluate the impacts of demolishing three hurricane-damaged houses at Everglades National Park and constructing one new 4-plex housing unit within the Big Cypress National Preserve.

The EA evaluates two alternatives, describes the environment that would be impacted by the alternatives, and assesses the environmental consequences of implementing the alternatives.

Under the no-action alternative, the current housing would not be demolished or replaced.

Under the proposed action, which has been identified as the preferred alternative, the existing housing would be demolished and replaced in an established housing area in Ochopee, Florida, within the Big Cypress National Preserve.
