The National Park Service, Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, are seeking public input on the proposal to restore six acres of wetland and meadow habitat in Halstead Meadow. This project would be the third and final phase of the meadow restoration project.

The proposed action includes filling a large gully and grading the meadow surface using heavy equipment to restore natural conditions, followed by replanting with native vegetation. The project would also evaluate whether two existing erosion control structures would be removed or stabilized in place, as part of the restoration. The proposed project includes improving visitor services in the area including improving the picnic area and adding informational displays or exhibits.
