Missouri National Recreational River » Goat Island Management Plan
The NPS is pursuing management authority of Goat Island. Goat Island was previously unclaimed land that, upon survey, was determined to be public land. The NPS has consulted with representatives from the States of Nebraska and South Dakota and other agencies to determine the preferred future of Goat Island. A full range of activities is being considered at the island. Under federal management, access to the island is permanently protected as public land.
