For at least a decade, Horseshoe Bend National Military Park has issued an agreement to local farmers (on a bid basis) to mow a portion of the historic Battlefield. This assists the park in providing a safe environment more closely associated with the historic appearance while conserving park fiscal and human resources.

The park has requested a Cultural Landscape Report and a General Management Plan but has yet to be funded. The park will continue this special use permit process until a formal parkwide planning process can address activities such as this.
