Please join Park and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers staff to learn about and discuss the Tamiami Trail Limited Reevaluation Report. You are welcome anytime during the hours identified below.
 
Description:
A public meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 22, 2008, 7 p.m. to give a presentation and hear public comments on the tentatively selected plan for the Tamiami Trail Modifications project. Agency heads for the Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, and the Department of the Interior will be available to discuss the tentatively selected plan and how it will further Everglades restoration by increasing water flows to Everglades National Park.
Jacksonville District Commander Col. Paul L. Grosskruger and Everglades National Park Superintendent Dan Kimball will be available prior to the start of the meeting to take questions from the media.
The Corps released the Limited Reevaluation Report and Environmental Assessment (LRR/EA) for the Tamiami Trail project April 9, 2008 for public review and comment. The LRR/EA reanalyzes the plan approved in the 2005 Revised General Reevaluation Report (RGRR) and investigates additional, less costly alternatives. The public comment period ends May 9, 2008.
The Tamiami Trial Modifications project identifies alterations to the Tamiami Trail that would improve water flow into Everglades National Park.
Journalists are asked to arrive no later than 6:15 p.m. at the Pharmed Arena, FIU, 11200 SW 8th Street, Miami (follow the "public meeting" signs to the Pharmed Arena).

Take Florida Turnpike to S.W. 8th Street, Miami. Go east 1/8 mile to FIU Campus. Follow the "public meeting signs to the Pharmed Arena.
