The Tuolumne Wild and Scenic River Comprehensive Management Plan Draft Environmental Impact Statement (Tuolumne River Plan/DEIS) will guide the long-term management of the 54-mile stretch of the Tuolumne Wild and Scenic River corridor within Yosemite National Park.
When complete, the final plan will:
• Describe existing resource conditions within the wild and scenic river corridor, including outstandingly remarkable values, water quality, and free-flowing condition;
• Identify existing adverse impacts or degradation and describe goals, objectives, and actions for restoring river values;
• Present a monitoring plan to ensure ongoing protection of river values;
• Present a comprehensive plan for the management of infrastructure in the Tuolumne River Corridor (mainly at Tuolumne Meadows and Glen Aulin), including transportation, lodging, camping, parking, park facilities, employee housing, and concessions;
• Identify the kinds and amounts of visitor uses that are appropriate and that also protect river values;
• Address in-stream flow requirements; and
• Reflect a collaborative approach with all stakeholders.
The Tuolumne Wild and Scenic River Draft Comprehensive Management Plan and Environmental Impact Statement was available for review and comment from Jan. 11-March 18, 2013. Public comments were due no later than 60 days after the publication of the EPA notice in the Federal Register (Jan. 18, 2013). Thank you to everyone who submitted an official comment.
Comments submitted during the comment period are now being reviewed and will be considered in completing the final draft of this plan. The final plan is expected in summer 2013.
