The National Park Service is preparing a foundation document to guide planning and management of the Camp Nelson National Monument. The park welcomes all interested persons to participate in this effort.

A foundation document identifies a national park unit's core purpose and significance, its most important resources and values, and the interpretive themes that tell its unique and significant American story. This foundation document will be used to provide guidance for future management and planning decisions at Camp Nelson National Monument.

As a new unit of the National Park Service, Camp Nelson National Monument's foundation document will provide a basis for first steps in prioritizing park planning and data collection needs. It is not intended to provide specific recommendations for future conditions at the park, but will instead guide future park operation decisions by documenting what is most important about the park and understanding what is needed to protect and manage those assets.

Get Involved:
The National Park Service encourages all interested citizens to play a role in outlining the park's future by sharing their thoughts on what is most important about the Camp Nelson National Monument, potential issues that could threaten park resources and commemoration of the site, and what opportunities exist to improve the protection of this national treasure. The project team will consider public input while developing the plan.
