Special Use permit for horse-drawn carriage/wagon tours along 8th Street at Lincoln Home

Lincoln Home National Historic Site » Special Use permit for horse-drawn carriage/wagon tours along 8th Street at Lincoln Home » Document List

1-2 horses will pull a carriage or wagon, depending on size of group, along 8th Street from south to north, as part of a longer downtown tour. Tours will take place no earlier than 5:30 (after hours) and will conclude by 9:00 p.m. on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, year-round, weather permitting. The horses will not be shod but will wear rubber booties when needed. Manure bags will be worn by the horses during the tours and a "walker" will be with the carriage rides within the park to clean any other manure and also keep an eye out for visitors and other pedestrian tours in the park at the same time. The walker will be clearly visible in front of the lead horse. Business solicitations will not be permitted within the park. The operator will have all required licensing from the city and will be clearly marked as being separate from the National Park Service.
