ANACAPA ISLAND DOCK REPLACEMENT

The Anacapa Island Dock Replacement project will replace the existing landing at Anacapa Island to improve safety and accessibility. The new dock will allow visitors safe and easy access from vessels to the landing.

Anacapa Island is the second most visited destination within Channel Islands National Park, and the new wharf and vertical lifting platform will provide safer access to visitors and National Park Service staff. The dock will be designed to last 50 years. It will be 2 feet higher in elevation than the existing landing and will have the ability to later be raised an additional 3 feet in the event of sea level rise. As shown in the rendering, safety and accessibility will be dramatically improved by replacing the existing ladder system with a mechanical platform and lift system. This new system requires widening the wharf footprint by approximately 6 feet with an entirely new structure.
