Fuel Reduction: Eastern Red Cedar Tree removal

Arkansas Post National Memorial » Fuel Reduction: Eastern Red Cedar Tree removal » Document List

Although Eastern Red cedars are a native species, they posses invasive tendencies on previously disturbed lands. The park contains a 5 acre monotonous stand of eastern red cedar that has suffered from wind and storm damage over the years. Many of the trees have been blown down on the ground or are entwined in the canopy becoming a safety and fire hazard. This project proposed to cut and remove the cedars to allow hardwood species to regenerate and increase stand diversity. The cedars will be cut and chipped onsite to help with site erosion.
