Replace Roof and Paint Exterior Brick Walls at Bowman-Hite Farmhouse

Cedar Creek & Belle Grove National Historic Park » Replace Roof and Paint Exterior Brick Walls at Bowman-Hite Farmhouse » Document List

The park proposes to replace the existing asphalt rolled roof on the Bowman-Hite House with a metal standing seam roof, repaint the exterior brick portions of the structure, replace chimney flashing and gutters, and clean the exterior brick walls . The current roof has deteriorated to the point that it leaks and lets water into the structure which is damaging the structural integrity of the house. A condition assessment completed by the National Park Service's Historic Preservation Training Center states that certain features are "nearing a point of complete failure." A new K-style water gutter system will be put in place to help divert water away from the historic structure.
