Paint Exterior and Repair Porches at Sprigg House

Lincoln Home National Historic Site » Paint Exterior and Repair Porches at Sprigg House » Document List

This project will consist of repairing the 168 square feet of South and East porches on the Sprigg House. Several areas are rotting and the porches are becoming unstable. Work will consist of removing any existing deck boards and framing that are in need of replacement, replacing any footings or piers as needed, and re-installing new framing and deckboards with pressure treated lumber. Two column posts on the South porch need replaced as well. The porch floors will then be painted with a sand/paint mix to prevent slips. In addition, this project will consist of repairing and painting 1,692 square feet of exterior surface area on the historic Sprigg House. This building was last painted in fiscal year 2007 and is past its life cycle to be painted. Surfaces to be painted include: 7 windows with trim and shutters, 2 doors with trim, siding, facia, soffit, all molding and brackets, 160 feet of guttering, and 110 feet of downspouts. Repairs will be made as needed to the exterior of the structure. All surfaces to be painted will be prepared for painting by sanding and scraping. A primer coat will be put on any repaired spots, and two finish coats of exterior latex paint will be applied by brushwork to the entire structure.
