Public Comment on Commercial Services at San Juan National Historic Site

San Juan National Historic Site » Public Comment on Commercial Services at San Juan National Historic Site » Document List

The San Juan National Historic Site (SJNHS) is seeking public comments for a proposed commercial services project within the park. This project will provide greater access and services for visitors to Castillo San Cristobal, Castillo San Felipe del Morro and Fort San Juan de la Cruz while being thoughtful of the historic fabrication of the fort(s).
Future commercial services may include but are not limited to refreshment stations, ecofriendly transportation, bicycle rental, and tours. Concessioners and commercial use authorization holders (CUA's) fill a vital role in helping the National Park Service carry out its mission. What services would you like the park to offer?
Public comment from individuals, businesses, and nonprofit organizations is encouraged. Commercial Services include but are not limited to concession operations and commercial use authorizations. The fees obtained through this program will stay within SJNHS and would fund rehabilitation projects for buildings, facilities, parking lots, roads, and wayside exhibits that would enhance the visitor experience. Additionally, the fees will also cover the administrative costs of receiving, reviewing, and processing the commercial services applications and required reports.
Information and a forum for public comments regarding proposed concessions is available December 8, 2017 to January 8, 2017 on the NPS Planning, Environment and Public Comment (PEPC) website at http://parkplanning.nps.gov/saju. Written comments can be sent to National Park Service, Concessions Program, 501 Calle Norzagaray, San Juan, PR, 00901
