Dear Interested Party:

The Record of Decision for the Final Ecological Restoration Plan and Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) is now available to the public. At this website you can download a copy of any of the project documents.

The plan evaluated options for reversing recent woodland encroachment, restoring herbaceous understories, slowing erosion, and mitigating associated threats to cultural resources within Bandelier's piñon-juniper woodland. The National Park Service will implement Alternative B, the monument's preferred alternative. The specific goals for taking action include: re-establishing healthy, sustainable, grass dominated plant communities within the piñon-juniper woodland, which will in turn help to stabilize soils and cultural resources.

If you have any questions about the plan, experience problems accessing our website, need a CD or hardcopy, or want additional information on our resource management program, please contact John Mack at the address below.

Sincerely,

Darlene M. Koontz
Superintendent
