The National Park Service (NPS) will be preparing an environmental assessment (EA) to analyze the environmental effects of a proposed Interpretive Trail and Boardwalk for Padre Island National Seashore, Texas. The project aims to enhance and improve the visitor experience and provide opportunities to learn about the park's cultural resources with a new access trail, boardwalk, and interpretive signs describing the historical significance of cattle ranching on Padre Island. The elevated boardwalk would also provide visitors the opportunity to learn about the abundance, types, and important functions and values of wetlands occurring within the park.

The environmental assessment prepared in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) will provide the decision-making framework that 1) analyzes a reasonable range of alternatives to meet project objectives, 2) evaluates issues and impacts to National Seashore resources and values, and 3) identifies mitigation measures to lessen the degree or extent of these impacts.
