Poston, which was built on the Colorado Indian River Tribes Reservation, was a major Japanese American confinement site during World War II. Today, in the aftermath of years of neglect, the majority of the camp's structures have either been moved or razed. Through this project, a Poston barrack, currently located at a nursery in Parker, Arizona, will be relocated and restored at its original site at Poston's Camp 1. Organized by the Poston Community Alliance, this project is part of a long-term initiative to develop a 'living museum' and interpretive center at Poston. The 'living museum' and interpretive center will present stories of Japanese American and Native American experience during World War II.
