This project will replace outdoor light fixtures and bulbs with night sky friendly products at locations recommended by the WASO night sky team in Arches and Canyonlands National Parks.Recommendations from the team included replacing numerous outdoor light fixtures and bulbs with night friendly products. the new fixtures direct downwards, decrease wattage to prevent stray lighting, and produce an amber color to minimize attraction of bugs and other impacts on wildlife. Reduced light pollution will allow visitors to better see the dark skies. The reduced light levels will still provide enough light for employees and visitors to safely work and move around present infrastructure in the parks. The project will result in increased workload for the Maintenance Division.
