YH-Valley Overhead Power Lines: Stables, YVL 1000's Housing
Yosemite National Park » YH-Valley Overhead Power Lines: Stables, YVL 1000's Housing » Document List
The electrical infrastructure will be updated by installing ten new treated wood power poles, ranging from 20 to 36 feet in height. All power and telecom lines currently attached to trees will be relocated to new poles. Two existing poles will be replaced, new risers will be installed at the comfort station and stables office, and new service masts will be set up for nine hard-sided residences. An old pole and service riser in the wagon room will be removed.
To facilitate this project, one live cedar tree that is leaning and unhealthy will be removed, along with three dead, topped trees. Additionally, the lower branches of three healthy cedars will be trimmed to ensure proper clearance for the new installations.
The height of the new power poles will depend on their location and the necessary clearance for the lines. A 20-foot pole requires a 2' x 4' hole for installation, while a 36-foot pole needs a 3' x 6' hole. Excavated soil will be repurposed to fill around each pole and compacted for stability.
