Commnet of Nevada LLC (Commnet) has submitted a right-of-way application to the National Park Service (NPS) to provide cellular telephone service to the residents and visitors to Stovepipe Wells in Death Valley and surrounding areas. The NPS will consider this request in accordance with the Telecommunications Act of 1996, which authorizes but does not mandate that requests for new telecommunications sites be granted. The NPS is conducting an environmental assessment under the National Environmental Policy Act to analyze this proposal for cellular service.
