In 2003 the National Park Service released the Final Report of the Women's Rights History Trail Feasibility Study. The study includes an assessment of the national significance of the women's rights movement wihtin the context of American history and a preliminary inventory of historic properties related to the women's rights movement within the project's study area. The study area included the following states: CT, DE, DC, ME, MD, MA, NH, NJ, NY, PA, RI, VT, VA, and WV.

The study also includes an evaluation of the feasibility of designating a formal trail commemorating the American women's rights movement and describes a range of alternative concepts for consideration.
