The National Park Service (NPS) and the New Jersey Marine Science Consortium (NJMSC) are soliciting public comment on a "Fire Egress alternatives" for the NJMSC's rehabilitation of building No. 22 at historic Fort Hancock, located in the Sandy Hook Unit of Gateway National Recreation Area.

Public input is important to the NPS and our partners and will assist us in selecting an alternative before continuing with further design work. The approach used for egress and access will help determine the overall rehabilitation designs for both the interior and exterior of the building(s). A common design approach to egress and access is planned for all buildings on Barracks Row at Fort Hancock. The approach that is determined here will be used in rehabilitation by both the National Park Service, and its partners who occupy the structures - barracks buildings 22, 23, 24, and 25.
