The National Park Service (NPS), in cooperation with the National Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Memorial Foundation, wishes to formally initiate consultation with the District of Columbia Historic Preservation Office, in accordance with 36 CFR 800.3 of Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, as amended, regarding the establishment of the National EMS Memorial. In November 2018, Public Law 115-275 authorized the National EMS Memorial Foundation to establish a commemorative work on Federal land in the District of Columbia commemorating the commitment and service represented by emergency medical services. The memorial must be consistent with the Commemorative Works Act, which ensures that commemorative works in areas administered by the NPS in Washington, D.C. are appropriately designed, constructed, and located.
