Another component of this project involves moving the National Weather Service instruments slightly to the south to align them with the existing weather station. In order to secure the weather instruments without requiring digging, the instruments will be placed in a concrete slab (4 feet wide by 15 feet long by 4 inches high) that is poured on the surface. An existing dirt roadway (south of the weather station) that parallels a more established road (south of the barns) will be abandoned and covered with fill dirt to restore the natural terrain. The concrete pad for the weather station will have dirt filled in around it so the slab is secured and flush with the topography. Asphalt on the east side of the site will be cut off to maintain a straight line.
Since the site will be restored to natural conditions, the storing of trailers and other vehicles will no longer be possible. Each division will be responsible for ensuring the existing trailers and vehicles are not moved to areas that would cause new problems. The areas up near the barn need to be kept clear for large vehicles to maneuver and park.
