Harry S Truman National Historic Site is seeking permission to raise its fee for tours of the historic Truman Home to $7.00 effective January 1, 2018 and we would greatly appreciate the opinions and thoughts of our constituents and visitors. The fee increase will not only bring the park more in line with other local and regional attractions, in terms of fees and admission rates, it will also provide revenue that will go a long way towards preserving the park resources for future generations. The park is very fortunate to have a strong support base among our visitors from every state in the Nation and around the world, partners, and our fellow visitor attractions. The park is proud to be part of a National Park system that Americans deeply and wholeheartedly support.

The last fee increase at Harry S Truman National Historic Site was in early 2014, from $4.00 to the current $5.00 for adults 16 and over. (Children 15 and under are admitted at no charge, as are those who hold Federal recreation passes.) The fee is collected for guided tours through the Truman Home at 219 North Delaware Street in Independence, Missouri.
Fees collected (except for the new Federal Interagency annual and lifetime Senior Pass) at Harry S Truman National Site are reinvested directly into park resources, both at the Truman Home in Independence and at the Truman Farm in Grandview Missouri. The park has a number of important future projects intended to protect and preserve park resources and provide the ideal visitor experience at both locations.

The staff at Harry S Truman NHS is very mindful that the citizenry should and must have input into this proposed increase, and the park hopes that the public makes their voices heard. The public may submit their comments on this proposed increase via mail, at 223 North Main Street, Independence, MO, 64050, via email, at HSTR_Superintendent@nps.gov, or online at https://parkplanning.nps.gov/harrystrumanfees.
