The existing diesel boilers have been inspected by California Boiler and found to be in useable condition. This rehabilitation will clean the fire box, possibly re-tube the water jackets and replace the burner. A structurally sound, safe, and efficient source of heat is critical to the daily activity of the employees and visitors housed in these locations. This project will also complete a contract requirement of Aramark with Yosemite National Park.
At each location, a self-contained portable boiler will be connected to the buildings to supply heat and hot water during the project. The existing boilers will be completely disassembled for rehabilitation or cleaning of its components. When reassembled it will be with a new burner and injectors that will use propane as a fuel source. Two 500 gallon certified storage tanks will be added to each site per the attached drawings and plumbed to the boiler buildings via an in-ground trench. The placement of the storage tanks will enable access to fill the tanks and also provide the required minimum clearance from possible ignition sources.
Photo-documentation will be performed before, during and after construction by the contractor and project manager.
YOSEMITE VALLEY LODGE: The installation of the feeder line will involve digging a four inch by eighteen inch trench approximately fifty five feet in length. The tanks will be within the existing footprint of the complex, southwest of the Aspen building. The site has been examined by J S West Propane and they have recommended a code compliant placement of two 500 gallon storage tanks and the expected underground pathway to bring the propane from the tanks to the boiler room in the building.
INDIAN CREEK EMPLOYEE HOUSING: Two 500 gallon certified storage tanks will be added to the site per the attached drawing and plumbed to the building via an in ground trench. The tanks will be within the existing fencing for the complex.
