Katmai National Park and Preserve (KATM) is developing a Commercial Services Strategy to provide guidance on how it can best partner with businesses to provide visitor services within the park. There are currently 94 businesses operating within the park that offer services including air taxis, guided bear viewing, and guided sport-fishing. KATM's remote location and unique geographic features means that most of the park's visitors rely on commercial services for transport to and services within KATM. All commercial services operating within a national park are required to hold a concessions contract or commercial use authorization. The park's management team is eager for feedback on current services, as well as suggestions regarding new services the park might offer in the future. The public is invited to provide input. The park will be accepting comments online through Sunday, August 9, 2015. An open house will be held to discuss the Commercial Services Strategy on Wednesday, July 15, 2015, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Katmai National Park and Preserve Headquarters located at King Salmon Air Force Base, Building 603, opposite SAVEC in King Salmon, AK.
