Tobacco Press Exhibit Removal Project
Colonial National Historical Park » Tobacco Press Exhibit Removal Project
The Park is desirous of removing the Tobacco Press Exhibit that was installed along the Yorktown Waterfront last year. Research conducted by Park staff has determined that there is no evidence that a tobacco press was located in the village of Yorktown; furthermore, research conducted on on 18th and 19th century tobacco presses indicates that the design of this exhibit is conjectural. The Park has consulted with staff from the Regional Office and removal was recommended. The private individual that constructed the exhibit has been consulted and offered the exhibit once it has been taken down.
