Snake Creek Improvements and Recreational Enhancement

Great Basin National Park » Snake Creek Improvements and Recreational Enhancement » Document List

The Snake Creek project goals are to improve resource conditions and enhance the visitor access to the Snake Creek Canyon area of Great Basin National Park and provide interpretive elements for understanding the Great Basin. This project will mitigate past development impacts to the high quality riparian area, create a balanced range of recreational opportunities, and develop interpretive exhibits.

The proposed work will address previous resource impacts from unrestricted camping and off-road driving, add new trail features and facilities to make the Park's backcountry more accessible, update the aging camping facilities, highlight areas of historic interest, add new interpretive media, and add elements that will enhance the visitor experience while addressing the operational and maintenance needs of the park.
