Tuolumne Employee Tent Cabin Rehabilitation Geotechnical Investigation

This project will investigate subsurface soil composition and determine the feasibility of rehabilitating 39 tent cabins in three Tuolumne Meadows employee housing areas. Geotechnical investigation is necessary at these sites to obtain soil profile information to develop design guidelines for structural foundations. This project will include testing the soil bearing capacity for the structural components of cabin rehabilitation. This project is only for geotechnical investigation compliance. This submittal will not be providing a proposed design or a recommendation of improvements; the sole purpose is to allow for the collection of additional data.

Testing will be performed in the areas of Bug Camp, Ranger Camp, and Road Camp. Work will consist of drilling 2-4 exploratory borings at Road Camp, and up to 22 at Bug Camp and Ranger Camp. Borings would be approximately 6 inches in diameter and 15 feet to 50 feet deep. Depths will be dependent on site recommendations from the site geotechnical engineer.
