Outer Cape Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan

Cape Cod National Seashore » Outer Cape Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan » Document List

Cape Cod National Seashore, in conjunction with the Cape Cod Commission, joined with the towns of Wellfleet, Truro and Provincetown to develop a comprehensive master plan of bicycle trails and pedestrian amenities throughout the Outer Cape and the Seashore. Implementation of the Outer Cape Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan would provide an interconnected bicycle and pedestrian trail network that could be used by visitors and residents alike to enjoy expanded and enhanced recreational and commuting opportunities.

The plan provides a vision and overall guidance to enhance connections to points of interest and provide a variety of experiences that would be implemented through individual projects. These projects include bicycle trail and sidewalk construction or improvements, share-the-road bicycle accommodations on certain routes, and bicycle and pedestrian facility development and safety improvements. The plan explored options for bicycle and pedestrian primary and secondary networks including extending the Cape Cod Rail Trail to the end of the Cape.

Cape Cod National Seashore has prepared compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), with particular focus on that portion of the plan that includes lands managed by the Seashore.

We look forward to engaging people's interest in this important effort to expand and improve recreational and transportation opportunities for bicyclists and pedestrians on Cape Cod.
