The IMR Transportation Program manages transportation system capital investments, operations, and maintenance for national parks in eight states; extending from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico along the Rocky Mountain front and includes the Colorado Plateau as well as a large portion of the desert southwest.
The 2035 IMR Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) is a management level document which creates a strategic framework for transportation program investments throughout this great region. The plan was finalized in April, 2014 and is located under the Document List link to the left. The draft IMR LRTP received over 150 comments. Over the coming year and beyond, the IMR Transportation Program will be implementing the strategies developed during the planning process.
The LRTP includes:
• Existing network conditions and transportation needs for asset management, safety, congestion, and capital improvements.
• Sustainable implementation strategies to protect park resources and provide a quality visitor experience, while preserving transportation assets.
• Network level goals, objectives and performance measures to improve the effectiveness of IMR transportation program investments.
• Effects of funding decisions on the transportation network in order to better communicate funding needs.
