Verizon Wireless Proposed Cellular Communications Facility, Point Reyes Hill

Point Reyes National Seashore » Verizon Wireless Proposed Cellular Communications Facility, Point Reyes Hill » Document List

Verizon Wireless submitted an application to the National Park Service (NPS) for a ten-year right-of-way permit to install, operate, and maintain a wireless telecommunications tower and support structure in an area zoned "Radio Range Station" on Point Reyes Hill within Point Reyes National Seashore (PRNS). The NPS is evaluating the application in accordance with the Telecommunications Act of 1996, the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and other applicable laws, regulations and policies.

The NPS completed the initial scoping phase of the NEPA planning process in the summer of 2013 by soliciting public input on the range of issues, potential environmental impacts and alternatives to the Verizon proposal that should be considered in the environmental assessment (EA) to be prepared for the proposal. Scoping input was solicited from June 20 through August 7, 2013.

Based on the issues raised during scoping, the NPS is preparing an EA to evaluate the potential environmental impacts of a range of project alternatives.

The EA is currently in preparation and will be released for public review and comment in 2015. The public will be notified of the availability of the EA and the dates of the public review period through an announcement sent to the PRNS mailing list and local media and a notice posted on the PRNS website.
