Based on recommendations in the 2007 National Park Service Comprehensive Interpretive and Conceptual Development plans for the Granada Relocation Center (Amache), the National Trust for Historic Preservation will develop a reconstruction plan for a missing guard tower at the site. The first aspect of this project will initiate a research effort based on primary sources (drawings, photographs, and written descriptions) associated with the Amache guard towers. The research will help assess the original guard tower designs and construction methods. The completed reconstruction plan will include a scope of work, architectural drawings, plans, specifications for the construction, and cost estimates. Additionally, the National Trust will design a plan for an interpretive wayside panel and outline its appropriate site location. Although this project will not build the guard tower, the National Trust's plan will be a valuable resource for guiding future efforts to reconstruct one at Amache.
