The closing of the Granada Relocation Center (Camp Amache) in 1945 resulted in an extensive off-site disposal of camp structures, including the camp's water tower. In recent years, the water tower's tank was found largely intact at a nearby farm and donated to the Amache Preservation Society (APS). Although the water tank lacks its original legs, the APS and Colorado Preservation, Inc., along with other partners, will generate a plan to rehabilitate the remaining parts of the tank, and reconstruct the legs and walkway associated with the structure. The project will result in architectural construction drawings, and specifications for the stabilization, reconstruction, and rehabilitation of the water tank. A secondary aspect of the project will include the research, design, fabrication, and location plan for an interpretive exhibit panel located near the reconstructed water tower.
