Bare earth mapping of the main units of the monument will be conducted to assist in the identification and preservation mounds and other features and future management of these resources. This is a cost efficient means of obtaining a highly accurate digital elevation model of the area.
The area is exactly 8 square miles. Data collection is by air and is to take place during leaf off and no snow cover between December 1, 2010 and April 25, 2011.
The area to be mapped includes the following units of Effigy Mounds National Monument, in their entirety: North Unit, South Unit, Heritage Addition.
