Biscayne National Park » Collection of Water and biological samples downstrean of Culvert S23D
This project is an outcome of the Biscayne Bay Coastal Wetlands aspect of the greater Everglades Restoration program. In order to satisfy the Department of the Army 404 permit for L-31 E, Biscayne Bay Coastal Wetland Project (Permit # SAJ-1994-1327{IP-TKW]), the South Florida Water Management District is requesting a scientific permit from Biscayne National Park to access approximately 100 meters downstream of Culvert 3 (S-23D, Latitude 25o28.37'N and Longitude 80o20.48W) to install a staff gauge and initiate ecological data collection (baseline and routine monitoring). This is to include water quality monitoring, water level monitoring and vegetative monitoring of the adjacent wetlands. The monitoring of the wetlands is visual. Water and sediment samples will be collected from the canal downstream of the culverts.
