This project would reupholster or replace worn and historically inconsistent furniture in the Wawona Hotel. The furnishings in the lobby, petite lounge (small lounge with piano), and the petite dining room (transitional room between the lobby and the dining room) would be redecorated to match the design features shown in historic photographs of the Wawona Hotel. The proposal would replace the furniture with high quality wicker furnishings that would match the historic design features of the major remodel done by the Washburn Family between 1914 and 1921. Reserved property would not be affected. Historic furnishings would not be removed.
The design scheme has been presented to the Concessions Management Branch, as an operations proposal, and to the History Architecture and Landscapes Branch.
