Section 512 of the Credit Card Accountability Responsibility and Disclosure Act of 2009 (P.L. 111-24, 123 Stat. 1764-65) allows persons to possess firearms inside National Parks and National Wildlife Refuge Systems, if they comply with applicable federal and state laws. This project would install required signs on federal and school facilities in Yosemite National Park notifying people that firearms are prohibited in these facilities.
This programmatic document would be used until rescinded or superseded. Some of the proposed signs are located in archeological sensitive areas. Before installing signs, the project manager would consult with the park's Archeology Office for any necessary monitoring.
