The Big Meadow Fire, which began as prescribed burn on August 26, 2009, covered nearly 7,500 acres of forest. It burned across the Big Oak Flat Road for several miles and crossed several small to medium sized drainage basins that are tributary to Crane Creek. The Burn Area Emergency Response (BAER) evaluation identified a culvert that warranted special measures for protection. A subsequent evaluation by the Facilities Management Division engineering staff identified a second culvert warranting protection. Both culverts are shown on the location map attached.
