Sny Magill Ice Fishing Tournament - Special Park Uses

Fishing tournaments and other similar group water recreational activities are requested by third party organizations to gather participants, stage and coordinate event activities at the Sny Magill Unit parking lot and boat launch area. The actual event activities take place on the water or Ice surface of the Mississippi River fronting the Sny Magill Unit. Additionally, all the water and ice surface and Mississippi River islands utilized by event participants are located within the boundaries of the Fish & Wildlife Service's (FWS) Upper Mississippi Wildlife Refuge.

EFMO cooperates with the Iowa DNR and Fish & Wildlife Service to patrol and enforce federal regulations and Special Park Uses permit conditions on the water or ice surface due to EFMO's lack of suitable watercraft and / or commissioned personnel on duty. Activities taking place on EFMO land are limited to the parking area and boat landing. FWS personnel monitor activities to ensure no inappropriate use of mound area occurs. Any inappropriate use will be reported immediately to EFMO's law enforcement ranger.
