Detailed information about the extent of archeological resources at Tenaya Lake is necessary to support the Tenaya Lake Area Plan. Data will be obtained by conducting a subsurface survey at up to three known archeological sites. The subsurface survey will include minimal excavation in the form of auger bores and shovel probes to identify site boundaries and subsurface distributions of cultural material. The archeological work will identify and document the condition of archeological resources in the Planning Area immediately surrounding the lake, allow for a more detailed assessment of cultural materials at two sites, encourage participation in the field, laboratory, and reporting by representatives of park-associated American Indian groups, and provide recommendations for further work, as necessary. The project's detailed workplan is on file and available upon request.
