Rock County Ice Age NST Corridor Planning

The Ice Age NST was authorized by Congress in 1980. When completed, the trail will be a footpath that meanders approximately 1,200 miles across the state of Wisconsin, tracing features left by the last glacier that swept over North America more than 10,000 years ago. Currently, there are nearly 700 miles of the trail on the ground and open to the public.
The National Park Service, together with our partners at the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Ice Age Trail Alliance, City of Janesville and Rock County have been working together to complete a Corridor Plan and Environmental Assessment for the trail through the county,
The Plan is now available for public review. The documents describes the planning process and selection of a Preferred Alternative. It also analyzes the potential environmental effects associated with constructing the trail.
